This update is brought to you by IndyWrestling.us.
Results from Sunday’s shows in New Japan, Stardom and DDT are ahead in this update but first…
Let’s get into last night’s NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day.
Finn Balor took quite a beating in the main event - but managed to pin Pete Dunne to retain the NXT Championship.
That’s when things got interesting. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch ran down for a post-match attack on Balor. Then came Undisputed Era - Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong - to apparently save Balor.
Once Dunne, Lorcan and Burch were cleared out...Balor and UE lined up to pose...and THAT is when Cole superkicked Balor. THEN, Cole superkicked O’Reilly! Strong was left standing - looking confused and surprised - as Cole stormed off.
Io Shirai pinned Mercedes Martinez to retain the NXT women’s title in a 3-way that also involved Toni Storm.
Johnny Gargano is still the North American Champion after beating Kushida.
Just before Gargano’s entrance, a backstage camera caught Dexter Lumis ABDUCTING Austin Theory. In a post-match interview, Gargano still did NOT know Theory’s whereabouts.

Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai are the first-ever winners of the women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. They beat Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon. Gonzalez and Kai will now get a shot at the women’s tag titles held by Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax sometime in the future.
MSK won the men’s Dusty Classic. They’ll get an NXT tag title match against Lorcan and Burch.
MSK beat the Grizzled Young Veterans in last night’s finals. It’s the second straight year the Vets have lost in the Dusty Classic finals.
Former Impact World Champion Eli Drake is now in NXT under a new name - LA Knight. He surprised viewers with a promo during the TakeOver pre-show...and appeared briefly backstage with William Regal during the main show.
Tonight’s Raw has a high-stakes gauntlet match. The winner will be the final entrant in next Sunday’s Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. All six Chamber participants will be part of the gauntlet - Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, Sheamus, AJ Styles, The Miz and Jeff Hardy.
First round matches on the Japan half of AEW’s Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament will be broadcast on AEW’s YouTube channel - tonight starting at 7PM.
Slam Wrestling was first to report this - and other outlets later confirmed the story. Plans for AEW’s Sammy Guevara to appear on Impact Wrestling were scrapped over creative differences.
Impact is promoting New Japan’s Juice Robinson and David Finlay appearing in the Impact Zone on their show Tuesday night.
Impact exec Scott D’Amore tweeted Sunday that this is a result of Impact and New Japan working together.
(STINGER: New Japan)
Young Lion Yuto Nakashima’s in-ring debut for New Japan lasted less than a minute. The referee called for the bell...after Nakashima suffered an injury to his left elbow.
New Japan announced early Monday that Nakashima will miss the remainder of the Castle Attack tour, which continues this morning. He was scheduled for all eight remaining “Road To” shows.
51-year-old Jun Akiyama is the new KO-D Openweight Champion. He dethroned Tetsuya Endo DDT’s “Kawasaki Strong” show on Sunday. Akiyama wrestled on NOAH’s show at Budokan Hall just days ago.
The Goddesses Of Stardom Title changed hands on Sunday. Maika (MY-kah) and Himeka (heh-MEE-kah) beat Bea Priestley and Konami at Stardom’s show at Korakuen Hall.
Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 4 was held over the weekend...and a big main event was announced for next weekend’s Bloodsport 5 show. It’ll be Jon Moxley vs. Harry Smith.
