JPWN Beta: WWE Tables Ladders and Chairs was LIT!

December 21st, 2020

I’m Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Monday, December 21, 2020.

This update is sponsored by IndyWrestling.us.

Let’s get straight to the results from last night’s TLC show.

This has to be considered one of the most shocking images ever seen on WWE TV - The flaming body of The Fiend lying in the middle of the ring. Moments earlier, Randy Orton pushed The Fiend’s back into a wall of fire outside the ring - essentially winning their Firefly Inferno Match right there. But while still on fire, The Fiend climbed into the ring..only to be hit with an RKO. That put out the flames, but Orton wasn’t done. He doused the unconscious Fiend with gasoline and lit him on fire. The final image of the night was The Fiend’s body engulfed in flames.

After the show, Bray Wyatt tweeted a simple message - “Thank you.”

Even before the main event, this was a newsworthy show.

Money In The Bank came up empty AGAIN. The Miz cashed in..right in the middle of the TLC match for the WWE Championship between Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles. However, Styles’ bodyguard Omos stopped Miz’ initial bid to climb for the belt..and McIntyre rallied to retain the gold.

Money In The Bank was once a golden ticket to a world championship. But now, four of the last five men to hold the briefcase have failed to cash it in successfully.

Charlotte Flair returned to TV for the first time since June. She was Asuka’s mystery partner..and together, they won the Women’s Tag Team Titles from Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. Flair pinned Baszler after hitting Natural Selection.

More gold changing hands - The Hurt Business’ Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander dethroned The New Day.

Roman Reigns retained his Universal Championship in a TLC match against Kevin Owens..thanks to repeated interference by Jey Uso.

Sasha Banks beat Carmella to hold onto the SmackDown women’s title.

On the Kickoff Show, an 8-man tag ended with Big E pinning Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn.

It was later announced that Big E will challenge Zayn for the IC Title on the Christmas Day episode of SmackDown.

The date for the 2021 Royal Rumble is set. It’ll go down on Sunday, January 31.

WWE’s policy on Twitch, Cameo and other platforms is back in the news. AJ Styles says he, Xavier Woods and Sasha Banks had a sitdown meeting with Vince McMahon..to discuss the situation..but it sounds like they didn’t have much luck turning things in their favor.

The policy led to the firing of Zelina Vega back in November. Styles and other stars suspended their accounts on Twitch and other platforms.

Styles speaking with TalkSport’s Alex McCarthy for Inside The Ropes.

Impact Wrestling’s Heath telling fans on Twitter that he was undergoing an MRI on Saturday..and hoping for good news. Heath’s been out of action since October’s Bound For Glory show, where he suffered a partially torn abductor muscle and a slight groin tear.

Stardom will have a match at Wrestle Kingdom for the second straight year. It’ll be on the January 5th show. But like last year, it will NOT be part of the live broadcast. Only fans in attendance will get to see it.

The first broadcast from New Japan’s Road To The Tokyo Dome tour is happening this morning. It’s a FREE show on New Japan World. We’ll have results in our update tomorrow.

Tuesday’s Road To show is also FREE on New Japan World. Another 6-man tag in the main event - Kota Ibushi, Juice Robinson & SHO vs. Bullet Club’s Jay White, KENTA & Gedo.

Maria Kanellis is back in Ring Of Honor, joining her husband Mike Bennett. ROH revealed Maria’s return with her announcing a new Facebook group for ROH fans called The Experience.

AEW announced Sunday that STING will be back on Dynamite Wednesday night..for an interview with Tony Shiavone.
